Sea Desert Ride. CANCELLED for this season February 2nd 2025
Alondra Rochin Meza
Meet Alondra Rochin Meza, a recipient of the East Cape Guild Scholarship foundation. Alondra is a 16-year-old student attending her 3rd semester of High School at EMSAD 16 in Los Barriles. She has an older brother, Manuel, who was also a recipient of the Guild Scholarship.
Alondra’s favorite subject in school is the History of Mexico. She also loves to learn about photography and has won 1st and 2nd place in competitions. She participated in the National Acedemic contest in Durango, Mexico in the area of Social Studies and won third place nationally. Alondra is a member of the “Escolta”, ‘escorting the flag ceremony’ done every Monday morning, which is an important role, only given to the top 6 students in each school.
Some of her other pastimes are reading books, listening to music and playing Volleyball.
Her future goals, once she graduates, include learning more about photography so she can join an organization and demonstrate her talent as well as learning English.

January 21 UPDATE: Two weeks until Race Day! Have you been riding? Our Epic Sponsors want you there at the start line, and so do we! Our 2024 Epic Buffs have arrived! Thanks to FRAME Fine Clothing because, the first 30 riders to register will receive their very own.
Homes and Land of Baja have stepped up again this year to help ensure another successful Eastside Epic!
Rancho Cacachilas has also committed to helping again this season. This year FOUR lucky riders will win passes to explore and enjoy the trails and offerings of the Ranch.
A great route is mapped for this season! 25.4 K/ 15.8 miles of splendid Groady. (That’s my mashup word to describe a course that has it all, gravel, paved, dirt, and with some sections of sand) This super scenic route has 1577 ft of climbs and descents and is as much fun as it is challenging. It will be well marked with signage and Volunteers to point the way. There is an aid station at the turn point, and we’ll have a truck “sweeping” behind the last rider for anyone who requires assistance..
Be assured that you can do this! The route will be very well marked with volunteers at turns to cheer and point the way. At about the halfway mark, there is a staffed aid station/ checkpoint to supply hydration and any required assistance.
You may have read, two riders from this year’s race will win day tours on their choice of trail. Well, I just had the privilege to ride the Las Minas single track. With Diego as our guide, we learned of the Ranch’s history, natural and cultural, and their leading edge efforts to keep this special place intact for succeeding generations. All that on our breaks from zooming along expertly crafted trails in a backdrop of this special unspoiled mountainous desert. A few pictures can be found below.
